A burst of hiring in December pushed the unemployment rate to its lowest level in nearly three years, giving the economy a boost at the end of 2011.
Thomson Reuters IFR Markets is looking for a rise of 140,000 jobs in December’s report, and Alcoa announces plans to slash its global smelting capacity by 12 percent.
